If I Lift Weights Everyday, Is That Going To Prevent My Muscles From Growing?

I read you should only lift weights every other day, but if I do it everyday, will that totally stop muscle growth?

    It all depends. If you are just doing “toning” exercises (i.e., you’re not lifting much weight) then even lifting every other day will not result in real muscle gain. If, on the other hand, you’re really lifting to the fullest extent of your abilities such that the next day you feel some kind of soreness in your muscles, then the reason why they don’t recommend you doing this everyday is your body will need time to recover, and it’s during the recovery process where most of the new muscle is created. Without recovering, you run the risk of interfering with that process and breaking down the very muscle that’s attempting to rebuild itself.

    yes it will because your muscles need rest to repair themselves, plus weight lifting every day can damage mucles fibers.

    For best results, alternate days….do arms one day, legs the next day and so on. Also, eat a well balanced diet, and lots of fresh veggies!

    Are you going for bulk or tone? Muscle tone is achieved by using less weight with more repetitions…which is usually the desired result for women. Over using a muscle is not only counter-productive, but it can lead to injuries. Instead, why not try training different muscle groups each day? On one day, work biceps, triceps, quads, abs and calves. The next day, work pecs, delts, obliques, inner and outer thighs and glutes. You can spend more time on each muscle group which allows enough reps to fully fatigue each area. The day of rest between sets is the key to nice looking development and stronger, sleeker muscle tone. The secret key to success is balance.

    It will make injury more likely, but your muscles will increase anyway. It will just cause more pain and cramping.

    While aiming for muscular Hypertrophy [development], it is important to do a program right. When using weights, you should work one section of the body every other day. While lifting for the same part of the body everyday, it puts a great amount of stress on the muscle. Stick with a routine for working a part of the body (i.e the upper body) every other day in order to achieve the best results.

    It will not stop muscle groth, but it will not give your muscles time to rest and build. If you want to lift weights everyday, do arms one day and legs the next. That way you give each muscle group time to rest. Stay Strong!

    I have always been told focus on one portion of your body one day, say arms and legs one day, chest and back the next. I don’t think it would totally stop the muscle growth, if anything it would take longer to see any actual physical effect because you aren’t giving the muscle time to start to heal. Try to think of it in a twisted little way as, say you got a cut, if you keep picking at the scab, it may bleed again, but it is still repairing itself.

    It won’t stop your muscle growth but it will cause overtraining and may damage your muscles. When you lift weights, you cause little tears in your muscles. The repair of these little tears are what allows your muscles to tone up. You should really allow at least 24 hours for your muscles to recover. If you really want to lift everyday, you should alternate muscle groups. For instance, you can lift your upper body on one day and then work on your lower body the next day.

    all i know is that if u lift (alot of heavy) weights every day (for alot of hours) u will have BAD BAD cramps!
