Of course if you are overweight, weight lifting would be beneficial but what if you are an average weight? Personally, I’m starting to think that natural lifting(push-ups, etc.) is better than anything you do with extra weight. I’m no scientist though, so I need a scientist’s opinion.

Yes, weight lifting is very beneficial even if you’re average in weight. Lifting weights keeps the bones strong and healthy…especially as a person gets older.Lifting weights can also cut down the amount of body fat that a person has, which makes you look better as well as keeps you more healthy. Low body fat can cut down on the likelihood that you will develop heart disease, high cholesterol, etc. It’s important to maintain strong healthy bones as well as muscle because it can prevent injuries and common problems such as arthritis. If I were you I would start of slow and build up over time in the amount of weights you use.
DON’T FORGET TO DO CARDIO AS WELL AS WEIGHT LIFTING!!!
