What Is The Best Cardio Exercise To Burn Calories And Shed Pounds?

I’m going to start working out, and want to know in your opinion, what is the best cardio workout to lose weight the quickest? It can be from running/jogging, biking, eliptical, walking, etc… (anything except swimming). I would like to lose the most fat in my thighs and arms.
Thanks!

running is the best cardio – it works your whole body. Eliptical is also very good.

Spinning and Cycling are the best for looseing pounds quickly while maintaining good health and muscle tone. It must be done correctly to achieve these results.
First purchase a heart rate monitor and have the instructor who teaches the Spinning class show you how to use it. Spin no less then four times a week every other day. I have known people in my class to burn from 800 to 1000 calories in a one hour class. At first the pounds will melt off then once your target heart rate settles in it will be less, but still significant. The cardio is exceptional as well as low stress. Once you have a good heart target heart rate established this will lead to more excercises and different class’s.
    Some things about Spinning:
Purchase cycling pants, you will need them for two reasons, the first being padding and the other being to wick the sweat and such away from that area. If you do not you will be extremely sorry. Not that I know first hand about that, and I do not claim to know about female physiology, but I can only say that when you ride sometimes it gets wet, more then you think, some more then others. Please wear the shorts and do not wear light colored sweat pants or whatever. Some will say to purchase the gel seats, well they absorb energy and again do nothing for the wetness. Enough said.
Take a cyclist water bottle with you – you must always drink water in these classes, it helps burn the fat and improves the heart rate. It keeps you hydrated, keeps the muscle cramps away. Use a cycling bottle, it saves money and the environment. Do not attempt the spinning classes without water.
Take a towel as you will sweat a whole lot and you can not imagine how wet you will get. You will be drenched, your seat will be drenched, your handle bars will be slippery, sweat will pour into your eyes. Shall I go on.
Wear a heart rate monitor to measure your progress. The good ones show your heart rate and calculate how many calories you have burned. They will also let you know if you are over working. If you overwork your body will not burn fat, it will burn the carbs available in your blood, your brain will tell you to replinish and then you will go home and over eat. Get the heart rate monitor.
Lastly do not feel timid, or embarassed as everyone in the class is fully aware that you are just starting. The instructor expects you to go at your own pace and will watch you closely. Before class at least 15 minutes tell the instructor you are new to spinning. He or she will adjust your spinning cycle to your measurements, provide you will some safety info and reassure you that you did the right thing.
To give you an Idea, I start my class by playing music, then asking if anyone is a first timer and if so I adjust their cycles to them. While doing this all others will warm up with little or no resistance at a pace they feel they can do all day. Once done with that, I make sure the fans are on, then I turn out the lights, yes, the lights go out then I turn on the black lights. So you see, no one is going to see much of you.
Once you feel good about spinning, get a road bike and ride with local cycling groups. You probably will meet many of them in the class. Usualy they start out in the spring.
Good Luck – feel free to contact me should you need or want more info

I do a lot of cycling and walking (i cycle everyday to and from work up 2 huge hills) that gets your heart going and tones the legs, thighs and bottom. Also you get lots of fresh air that is good for you and wakes you up if you have an early start in the morning.
