Do not lift heavy…..the reason is simple. You are still growing. Your bones, and more specifically your joints, have not matured. Lifting heavy weights and impede this process and cause joint problems that will last a lifetime. So stay light if you lift…very light..or even better, substitute push ups and pull ups instead of weight. These use just your natural body weight and cannot cause problems. Take it easy…you want to exercise for a lifetime. Do not let a decision you made at 12 haunt you forever.
i don’t see the problem with lifting weights as long as you have supervision by someone who is knowledgable about weight training. but it is more for toning than weight-loss.

as long as you are careful, there is nothing wrong with weight lifting at your age.
